Welcome Home 04:27
Welcome home where you been high and dry on a mountain you gave up talking cause you had some thoughts to go through Welcome home old friend I been here watching time fly I guess you missed some news but it’s mostly watching doves cry high So what’d you see on your mountain did you drink from the Buddha’s fountain you make new friends with the bird life ever write home to your dear wife was the sunrise smilin’ while you dreamt on your moonlight island did you miss the sounds of the city as the rain strummed on to infinity Well me I been talkin’ daily stealing time with my one love lady taking naps like a little old baby thinking the world just done gone crazy stretching out like a summertime breeze and feeling mixed up ‘bout things I seen and walkin’ around so my feet don’t freeze and holdin’ tight to the rest of my dreams and Sometimes I imagine I’m a mountain lose track of the things I’m counting settle in while the pressure’s mounting get rid of all my doubts and let it flow like a springtime stream and pick a tune that reminds me of a dream and think of you and the hours you spent and bring your mountain right here to my apartment Welcome home where'd you been high and dry on a mountain you gave up talking cause you had some thoughts to go through

It’s been a fine exquisite sample of the way a room can change when the company of strangers is all that remains eyes had looked through others the horizon through the ages they’re now evidence of something we must admit engaged us She’s a structural architect of some resplendent dances he forever estimates the facets of the chances and they as though ignoring what’s happening around us said they made their way to glory and think they might have found us made it all the way to glory and think they might have found us But me I want to die alive let’s burn that old forgotten fire five million times yeah let’s watch forever unwind yeah let’s watch forever unwind Now we been so long together we’ve all been through some stages kept on staring at each other like nothin’s ever changin’ but you and I both know you sit still or you start bailin’ but forever’s gonna come and the mighty ships keep sailing yeah forever comes and goes and the mighty ships keep sailing

There’s a river runs to a delta like a ribbon through the air there’s a fire burns around me seems what it burns it does not care and me I tend them both I try to but that old river needs me not that old fire keeps up burning keeps up rising keeps it hot But who can survive all on their own won’t you come back from the shadows seems your thoughts have overgrown you will arrive look how we’ve grown we’ll roll just like that river ’til we’re only breath and bone Just breath and bone just breath and bone just breath and bone just breath and bone There’s a mountain falls around me it’s just a cavalcade of sand and there’s a washout down below it where no impediment will stand and me I watch it from each lookout watch for changes in my time and that old mountain moves so slowly it churns a tempest it turns so fine

Soul got lost on a battlefield while we were walking home one night and I took a left turn but my soul it yearned to get a little closer to the fight so I went on without notice but that night in my sleep my dreaming head had come empty and my thoughts they were only skin deep Soul got lost upon the battlefield watching while around the plain of pain machines they call guns for hi(gh)re went along shooting just in vain there’s broken bodies and soulless rifts littering the land and soul decided she had had enough so soul she up and joined with the band started singin’ Praises be to your soul routes yeah the solitary moments when we know when the rain’s shining or the sun falling we have a deeper place to go yeah don’t we have a deeper place to go well don’t we have a deeper place to go Soul she stepped on a landmine and boy as soon as it tickled with its toe sparks went flying everywhere and the shrapnel was the color of a rainbow and then the bullets flew and the missiles too the battle and the fury round the land it grew soul stood in the middle telling ancient riddles saying where’s the ancient warriors who knew to sing Praises to your shrapnel, yeah the burning shards of love won’t we give up the posture of the pusher stand on the wire with the dove but my misdirected latent longing lingers in my fingers there’s the big one and the bigger filling purses with the trigger leaving nothing but the love leaving nothing but the love leaving nothing but the love

Old Hearts 04:10
Saw it once true as the wind blew just before you come along every time I want to hear now I just hum along It’s In your eyes too come along dear just you see we’ll be alright And we’ll count up all the numbers sailing ‘cross the sky Yes we’ll count up all the numbers sailing ‘cross the sky Builder built a castle and before it tumbled down the river rose to meet it and returned into the ground sky flies over towers ‘til thunder tamps it down builder builds another and it comes right back around builder builds another and it comes right back around Some has gone wafting and some of it’s drafting but most of it’s gone to that old everlasting some are rebuilding with gold leaf and gilding the rest take up dancing and restless romancing just bridging our time from old hearts to star sing

Been at the edge of the universe where the rumblings had nearly ceased and there the starlit cisterns collecting only belief yeah and our old ocean is strung over years light and long and the singing of things comes a quieting song So were your eyes on despise instead of your skies were we under the table rhythm maker rhythm shaker were your eyes on despise instead of your skies were we under the table But this circle’s been expanding oh and the gravity’s demanding more action satisfaction from a universe of love well but this circle’s been expanding oh and the gravity’s demanding more action satisfaction from a universe of love

Here & Gone 03:28
Hey where’d you been hey where’d you been say where you been hey where’d you been hey where’d you been hey Me I’ve been at home stuck alone dry long so don’t feel the time pass don’t smell the tall grass Hey where’d you been hey where’d you been hey say where you been Me I been at home stare at the telephone here and gone don’t feel the time pass don’t smell the tall grass Hey where’d been hey where’d you been hey say where you been

Symmetry 04:12
How many times so many times I seen you and you seen me How many more times too many more I turned my feet back from your door I only want to know you and know I’ve told you I only want to love you and grow old with you How many times so many times we’ve lived here and we’ve lived near How many more times too many more we’ve lived together under cover of fear So won’t you live strong and love long and let battles die that have gone on so long How many lives so many lives we heard this song and waited long And how many more lives too many more will we hear these words and wait to sing along so won’t you live and sing and be free won’t you love come sing along with me

The west texas ocean the old coral reef buried like tyrants like servants and chiefs the east persia princes on the upwelling tides gone far beyond now a small point of pride New mexican mountains where your thoughts can be free I followed a branch down to old santa fe from atchison, topeka, to the golden gate bay me I been rolling along on the old santa fe They came here for profit ten dollars a song said sing like you mean it just don’t sing it wrong they came and moved mountains they went shore to shore I just can’t quite tell if they’re the cause or the cure I just can’t quite tell if you’re cause or the cure I laid down beside you still wanted more you gave me direction I went on my own I set out to find you I had to leave home Through North Dakota it rolls and it roils not the same railway but it’s still seeking spoils rolls out through the badlands right over the plains well we did it all once now we do it again I signed on to love you before I could care I grew up to wonder if this is something we share I still stand beside you, still clutch to your shore I just can’t quite tell if you’re the cause or the cure I just can’t quite tell if ’re you’re cause or the cure I laid down beside you I still wanted more you gave me direction I went on my own I set out to find you
